Lost In Play

I knew not what to say
other than
I have felt the weight
and, if you will,
I can help carry the load
share the silence
or distract for a time
It seems to me
that we all carry a loneliness
a craving for something more;
I sense
that we don't know
where we are going
or if the past amounted to much;
but, all this is forgotten
the moment we get lost in play.
They say, Be Present,
something I find accessible
when held
when sharing time
or when looking in the eyes of another.
And so, I offer,
Let me be that for you.
Talk to me of religion or philosophy and my ears will fall silent -- those things that once fascinated have grown dull and plain; But, tell me of your pain your passion your need, and I will listen.
Maybe if you are my muse
and I am your fiction
we can wander away for a time
from the weight of it all
to find the thrill
of getting lost in each other's stories
and pausing time
to do whatever it is we find pleasurable
before returning
to this life that bears down.
Let's draw color where it is dark
until the shade gives way
to something
brighter
much lighter
found from the latitude
of this thing we call
Play
